Dear Tumblr

I’m so sorry for my recent neglect.

It’s just that I do have a life which is kinda full on at the moment.

Long hours, lack of wifi and balls to the wall hard graft have conspired to wedge this distance between us.

Unfortunately I have to enter that deep, dark long tunnel of life for another two weeks … But there is light at the end of it … Or perhaps it’s a train coming the other way?

My deepest and most sincere apologies,

Yours,

PeterMacD

PeterMacds’ Kitchen Nightmares

Just about to set off for Hastings, Sussex, UK to do a Ramsay!

The company who employs me have got a brand new unit which is encountering serious problems … Im going to sort out the kitchen & the bird is going to sort out the restaurant.

From what I hear we are going to have our work cut out - its a shambles apparently.

Ho-Hum.

So for the next week or so updates and tumblrs via iphone - if I find free wifi!

Anyway - I hope theyve got us in decent digs.

If not Im turning around and driving straight back to Devon!

Aw the best for noo

While on Holiday on Rhodes I only turned the TV on a couple of times …
The TV in the hotel room was a bit naff and took a few seconds to kick in after pressing the on button so my back was usually turned before it would come apparent what was being shown.
On one of these occassions “Do The Dog” by the Specials boomed out and I instantly went into skinhead reggae mode and moonstomped all over the room …
The bird was in the shower at the time so no shame was involved.
It was from “This is England”.
In Greece.
Now that was a jarring culture shock.

Every Road Leads Somewhere by The Scottish Guitar Quartet

So Mogwai have got the noise …

But these guys have got something entirely different.

Its studied jazz mixed with off kilter time signatures and shitloads more.

This song has been played 8 times.

"The other day, the BNP had a political broadcast on the box. I wasn’t in my beloved homeland at the time, but I heard about it, via internet chuckles of derision. Fellow geeky types tweeting about the poor production values. I looked it up on YouTube. Sure enough, it was badly made. No surprise there. Extremist material of any kind always looks gaudy and cheap, like a bad pizza menu. Not because they can’t afford decent computers - these days you can knock up a professional CD cover on a pay-as-you-go mobile - but because anyone who’s good at graphic design is likely to be a thoughtful, inquisitive sort by nature. And thoughtful, inquisitive sorts tend to think fascism is a bit shit, to be honest. If the BNP really were the greatest British party, they’d have the greatest British designer working for them - Jonathan Ive, perhaps, the man who designed the iPod. But they don’t. They’ve got someone who tries to stab your eyes out with primary colours."

The Singing Ringing Tree, a 3-metre tall wind-powered tubular metal musical sculpture designed by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu, is set in the landscape of the Pennine mountain range overlooking Burnley, in Lancashire, UK.
Wow!
I Feel an excursion coming on next time I drive up to Scotland … wonder what it sounds like?
